We Start Preparation
Today, Caleb and I started our preparation for our epic journey this summer with arguably the most important part of a several month preparation period. No this did not include training or going for a 50 mile bike ride, and no it did not consist of really planning anything for our two months we will spend all across the United States, these things only pale in importance to what we did today. Today Caleb and I picked out the bike seats we will be sitting on for 400 plus hours this summer. Needless to say, this decision is one that will effect us every second of our journey and will either save our lives, comfort, sanity ect. or it will make for a very very unpleasant and painful 2 months; which may or may not result in the inability to sit down comfortably until the following summer. These saddles are not cheap but are one of the few essential expenses we will encounter in our preparation for the trip this summer, so in short, it will definitely be worth it.
I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our blog! This is only the first of many many (hopefully witty and entertaining) posts detailing our preparation for the trip and our progress on our fundraising. Once June 1st comes around we will be posting every day (hopefully) along the road to inform anyone who is interested; where we are, how far we've come, how much weight we have lost, how ridiculous Ben looks trying to grow a beard and any other stories of our bicycle journey to the pacific. Thank you for visiting, please feel free to follow us and PLEASE consider donating if you haven't already!
